THE husband of a woman of died after a long battle with cancer is raising awareness of the rare condition.
Sharon Dunster, 65, from Great Baddow sadly died after being diagnosed with mucosal melanoma in the lower part of her body.
She was diagnosed in November 2015 and passed away last November.
Now her husband Steve wants to raise awareness and has been involved with raising more than £5,000 in her memory.
He said: “It is so rare that no few people and medical staff know about it.
“We had a horrendous time before she passed away, I was living in the hospital with her all the time.
“After Sharon had died I just thought I have got to do something for this.
“It is a cruel cancer as it lives in the warm moist parts of the body and it is normally to late when it is detected.
“We are working with Sharon's consultant and The Imperial College in London to start research into this disgusting cancer.
"At present we are trying to raise money for a young doctor to do a three year research for her PHD into Mucosal Melanoma.”
Mr Dunster had created an online funding page and said the fundraising in her memory will just continue.
